Jasna Veličković studied composition with Srđan Hofman at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, graduating in 1999. Since 2001 she followed the postgraduate composition course at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, studying with Louis Andriessen, Gilius van Bergeijk and Clarence Barlow, graduating with distinction in 2004.

She attended courses in Radzieowice in 1997, Cesky Krumlov in 1998, the International Young Composers Meeting in Apeldoorn in 1998, masterclass Voix Nouvelles at Royaumont in 2000. She won the first prize at the International Review of Composers in Belgrade (1996), second prize at the International Review of Composers in Belgrade (1997), the Slavenski Award in Belgrade (1998). She was the laureate of the 4th International Youth Music Forum in Kiev and finalist with the orchestra piece at the Dutch Music Days festival. She won the Irino Prize for chamber music in Tokyo, Japan (2007).

Her works have been performed by the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, String Orchestra Dusan Skovran, Chinch Bug, Ensemble Aleph, Cairn ensemble, Logos ensemble, Radio Kamerorkest with Peter Eotvos, ‘de Ereprijs’, Maarten Altena Ensemble, Axys Ensemble, Soil Ensemble, Loos Ensemble, Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Piano Possibile etc.

Her works are performed at festivals for contemporary music, such as Festival Aspekte, Salzburg (2007); Time of Music, Viitasaari (2007); Festival Le printemps des poètes, Carcassonne (2007); Gaudeamus Music Week, Amsterdam (2004, 2006); Dutch Music Days, Utrecht (2003), Festival Manca, Nice (2006), A-devantgarde festival, Munchen (2005); Composers in First Person, Belgrade (2004, 2006); Bienale, Zagreb (2007), International Review of Composers, Belgrade (1996, 1997, 2000, 2002) among others.

Jasna Veličković is co-founder of CHINCH – Initiative for Research and Production of Contemporary Music, “Live” and Visual Arts. She is also co-founder and member of Teorija koja Hoda (Walking Theory) based on theoretical performance.

Lives as a free lance composer in Amsterdam.
