Milica Paranosić

Milica Paranosić (USA/Serbia) was born in Belgrade, where she began her career in music. She completed her BA studies at the Department of Composition and Orchestration at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. In 1995, she moved to New York, where she acquired an MA degree in composition at Julliard School of Music, where she works as a professor of electronic music and manager of the School’s electronic studio.

Paranosić has actively pursued composition, production, performance, sound design, and pedagogy. She has won numerous awards, prizes, and fellowships. She has participated at numerous festivals and concerts of contemporary music across the world (BEMUS, EtnaFest – Catania, Italy, and Internacional Festival De Música Contemporânea – Bahia, Brazil). She co-founded Beyond the Machine, Julliard’s Festival of Electronic Musicand Composers’ Concordances annual music festival. She has authored a large number of concert and multimedia works, as well as music for theatre plays, dance performance, films, and video art, performed in the US, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, BAMcafé, and Princeton University. Paranosić collaborates with artists of various profiles from across the world.

Bajka (Fairytale) is a piece that I wrote to a commission from the Composers Concordance organisation in 2013. It was premièred at the Timbre Tantrum festival that year, at West Park Presbyterian Church in New York. The performance was conducted by Maestro Thomas Carlo Bo.
