Nikos Harizanos

Nickos Harizanos studied in Athens and continued his studies in Composition at Manchester University, graduating with a research Master’s degree (MMus) in Composition. He began his studies for a PhD in Composition at the University of Bangor (UK) in 2014. His music has been performed in 34 countries across the world. He has received numerous first prizes and distinctions in international and national competitions. His music has been broadcast on national and international TV and radio stations (USA, Mexico, Spain, Czech Republic, Colombia, Greece). He is Secretary General of Contemporary Music Research Centre (founded by Iannis Xenakis; CMRC – KSYME), member of the Greek Composers Union (GCU) and the Hellenic Electroacoustic Music Composers Association (HELMCA).

His works are published by Schott (Germany), Musica Ferrum (UK), Da Capo Music Ltd. (UK), Les Productions d’Oz (Canada), Gold Branch Music Inc. (USA), Arcomis (UK), Contemporary Music Research Centre (KSYME – CMRC, Greece).

Alone I and II for trumpet and electronics – The work is divided in two sections played without a break. It was inspired by street and marketplace sounds. Its guiding idea is that of an individual walking among the crowd in a marketplace, surrounded by all kinds of sounds and voices.
