Božo Banović (1963, Serbia) graduated from the composition class of Prof Rajko Maksimović at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. He also studied with Prof. Vlastimir Trajković. Apart from various Serbian festivals, works by Banović have been performed in several European countries, South Africa, Australia, and the United States. Banović also engages in pedagogic work and performs as a piano accompanist.

Preludijum (Prelude) was composed in 1987 as a piano piece, conceived in terms of repeating and developing one and the same motive. Following years of lying in oblivion, I rediscovered it and arranged it for string orchestra, hoping that the passage of time and change of instrumentation would not affect its original character.
