About the piece
Haiku V for piccolo, percussion and optional electronics (2023) belongs to the eponymous cycle of compositions whose goal is evocation, interpretation and transposition of the folklore and ancient music heritage of Far East. Meditational state (coloristic and naturalistic effects) and state of trans (dense texture and extreme registers) represent two contrasting expressions, and their clash forms the axis of the cycle. The electronic part is made of a reduced number of samples, modified recordings of voices, whispers, sighs, exotic shakers, rain sticks, gongs, bells, pots and various percussion instruments which are used in Buddhist ritual ceremonies.
