Dragan Latinčić (b. 1982) obtained his PhD at the Department of composition of the Faculty of Music in Begrade, supervised by the academician Vlastimir Trajković (doctoral artistic project: Batal, preludes for string orchestra, 2014). He took part in numerous festivals and conferences dedicated to contemporary music, in Serbia and abroad. He is employed as an associate professor at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, Department of Composition. Dragan Latinčić won the Special Award Frisch aus der Feder of the Summer Academy Prague-Vienna-Budapest, and The April award of the City of Belgrade for the youth’s creative work (in 2008). He was the laureate of the 13th Young Composers Meeting Competition in Apeldoorn (The Netherlands) in 2007. He was involved in the project of digitization of Vasilije Mokranjac’s piano opus, carried out by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. He wrote the books Microintervalls in Spectral Geometry and Spectral Trigonometry (Establishing Universal Music-Mathematic Studies), published by Zadužbina Andrejević. He is a guest lecturer at the Mathematical Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts as part of the Mathematics and Music seminar.
About the piece
Tri pesme na stihove Miroljuba Todorovića [Three songs on the verses by Miroljub Todorović] for soprano and piano, from his collection of poems Iz raspolućenog jezika, were composed in 2021/22. This song cycle was commissioned by Ana Cvetković-Stojnić and Vladimir Stojnić, to whom it is dedicated. The cycle consists of three songs: (1) Ti si kajsijin cvet [You are an apricot flower], (2) Grlim tvoju senku [I am embracing your shadow], and (3) Venčanje [Wedding].
