Rodney Waschka II is probably best known for his algorithmic compositions including his operas based on the lives of Ambrose Bierce and Sappho. His works have been performed throughout the world and are widely recorded.

His most recent compact disc, Music for Strings, contains algorithmic pieces: string quartets and solo works recorded by the Nevsky String Quartet of Russia. Waschka teaches at North Carolina State University. www.waschka.info

Beogradska Uvertira (Belgrade Overture) was composed in 2008 using a genetic algorithm designed and coded by the composer. The middle section in 7/8, quotes the Serbian folk tune Ajde Jano.
