Word of the selector

Welcome to the 31st International Review of Composers!

Following the Open call for scores, this year we received 371 pieces writ-ten for the most diverse ensembles, by the authors from nearly all parts of the world. Within eight concerts, fifty selected pieces will be presented – including an overview of the most recent output of Serbian composers, as well as a selection of the works that represent various current trends in contemporary music world-wide. This year, the focus is on pieces composed for chamber orchestra, as well as the works that make use of the electronic medium.

The majority of selected works will be performed by the most distin-guished Serbian ensembles for contemporary music, the Ensemble Metamorphosis and Construction Site ensemble. The pieces for chamber orchestra will also be performed by the St. George Strings with guest conductor Ivan Skender, and with participation of numerous soloists. We will also listen to the performances of the Belgrade Trio, Aratos Trio and ensemble 4 Strings.

Within the Review Talks, the musicologists Ivana Miladinović Prica and Ksenija Stevanović will present the piece which is the recipient of the Mokranjac Award for 2021.
