A Word from the Selector
Honoured guests,, The International Review of Composers is being held for the 21st time this year and it has come of age according to all world standards. In previous years, the Review has welcomed many significant authors and music artists from Serbia and abroad. Also, the best ensembles. This year at the Review, we will also have the chance to hear the best recent music pieces from all over the world. There are 52 compositions on the program by authors from France, Israel, England, Macedonia, USA, Italy, Finland, Sweden, Cyprus, Croatia, Australia, Mexico, Montenegro, Japan, Ukraine, Canada, Germany, Holland and Serbia.
The main focus of this year’s selection is to point at the contemporary works in classical music in soloist, chamber and electronic genre. Out of the broad spectrum of instrumental compositions, the program will present compositions from one to eight instruments, which with their esthetically diverse, layered and imaginative contents showcase the diversity of composers’ poetics.
This year’s Review is also significant because it will present to the audience a few new ensembles. First of all, New ensemble for new music under the name of Gradiliste (Construction site), which has with its artistic enthusiasm and performing capacity paved the way for this year’s selection. Besides this one, there is the newly formed trio Pokret (Motion), violin duo Misita-Stokić, as well as the TAJJ quartet from Novi Sad, already known to the audience. After a five-year-long break, we have with us again the conductor with a growing world reputation, the Premil Petrovic.
I deeply believe that the program in this formation will be well received by the audience, that it will affirm the significance of the international character of the Review, and additionally stress the importance of Composers Association of Serbia as the institution which exists for the good of us all and which will serve as the quality parameter for comparison between acknowledged composers from Serbia and those from abroad. Furthermore, I believe the compositions that will be heard in the ten upcoming concerts, will be a prolific inspiration for future creative work and inspiring performances.
Hopeful that the scheduled program will be successfully realized in the next five days, I wish the Review: Good luck!
