About the piece

Meditations is a cycle of music pieces inspired by Japanese Zen gardens. Like the gardens themselves, the music is intended to be aligned with the intimate essence of nature, not to imitate its actual appearance. The works also serve as an aid to meditation for listeners and performers alike. Each work can last for any amount of time. Notation consists of hundreds of short poems which describe the music in minute detail but at the same time leave significant space for creative interpretation.
